  Written by Alicia

In June 2023 I transfered etherium from binance to Valr in order to withdraw but I made a mistake and sent it on the wrong chain which means I lost it all. Can I claim this from sars as a loss and is it worth it?

Outstanding Taxes Sequestration

  Written by Alicia

Hi
I was sequestrated in 2015, of late though I was receiving SMS notifications that SARS has issued correspondence, I login and find no correspondence what so ever. I called the call centre and they informed me that its for outstanding taxes dated back to 1990, on my profile all tax types are not active on the old Tax number before sequestration, she says on their side it shows as active. Further to this on logging in there are like 5 profiles for me under my new Tax number only one is act...

  Written by Alicia

Good day
SARS is requesting documents that I have already sent to them, the only piece of information I havent supplied is the ID document and verified bank statement payment for my domestic worker. I currently pay my domestic worker in Cash, she is not registered as she only works every alternate day by me and never over the weekend or public holidays. How do I justify/verify this enough to make SARS happy? With regards to everything else. I have already supplied them with my credit card s...

I need guidance on how to fulfill a SARS request for a detailed medical schedule

  Written by Alicia

Hi TaxTim,

I%u2019ve received a follow-up request from SARS regarding my 2025 medical claim of R*****. I have already submitted all the receipts I have and I%u2019m confident the claims are allowable, but SARS is still asking for a "detailed schedule" with practice and script numbers. Since I have already uploaded my material, could you advise on the best way to format this schedule so it satisfies the auditor before the April 7th deadline?

What supporting documents do I need to submit to SARS?

  Written by Nicci

After submission of your tax return, when you receive your tax assessment (ITA34) from SARS, you need to scan down to the block “Compliance Information” to see if SARS requires anything further from you. You will see “Selected for audit or verification” with a Y or N (Yes or No) next to it. If you have a N, you can breathe a sigh of relief and consider yourself fortunate that SARS probably doesn’t require anything further from you for this tax year. (You should h...

  Written by Evan

First, check to see if you have a tax number already

You are looking for a 10 digit number from SARS that starts with a 0, 1, 2, 3 or 9. Try any of the methods below to find it.

Ask your employer
Your employer may have registered you in the past. If this is the case, you would have been issued with a 10-digit tax reference number from SARS and you would have an IT150 Notification of registration that states your tax reference number.

Check your payslip...
