Hi
I was sequestrated in 2015, of late though I was receiving SMS notifications that SARS has issued correspondence, I login and find no correspondence what so ever. I called the call centre and they informed me that its for outstanding taxes dated back to 1990, on my profile all tax types are not active on the old Tax number before sequestration, she says on their side it shows as active. SARS is requesting documents that I have already sent to them, the only piece of information I havent supplied is the ID document and verified bank statement payment for my domestic worker. I currently pay my domestic worker in Cash, she is not registered as she only works every alternate day by me and never over the weekend or public holidays. After submission of your tax return, when you receive your tax assessment (ITA34) from SARS, you need to scan down to the block “Compliance Information” to see if SARS requires anything further from you. You will see “Selected for audit or verification” with a Y or N (Yes or No) next to it. You are looking for a 10 digit number from SARS that starts with a 0, 1, 2, 3 or 9. Try any of the methods below to find it.
Ask your employer
Your employer may have registered you in the past. If this is the case, you would have been issued with a 10-digit tax reference number from SARS and you would have an IT150 Notification of registration that states your tax reference number.

21 July 2025 to 20 October 2025: individual (non-provisional) taxpayers
21 July 2025 to 19 January 2026: provisional taxpayers
If you earn less than R500 000 in a tax year and fulfil a series of complicated criteria, you may not have to file a tax return in 2025.
